A perfect setting for our performance this evening! HMS Bounty - the replica built for the1962 version of the film with Marlon Brando - moored in Sutton Harbour, just waiting for us to dance on her deck! So we did!
Excellent performance at Modbury May Fair. Good to see floats in the procession that had not been limited to walking only, as some are.
On Friday 1st April 2011 14 members (and Lois) travelled to Southampton for King John Morris Men's Annual Day of Dance on Saturday 2nd April 2011. We travelled in 4 separate cars and rendezvoused at The Woodman Inn, Ferndown, just before Ringwood on the A31. On arrival, the barman was a bit taken back by nearly everyopne waving a piece of A4 paper at him demanding a free drink. They were vouchers downloaded from the Marstons website! We all took advantage of the 2 for 1 offer of a meal as well, so most people got a meal and a pint for about £5. Friday evening saw us at the usual pub gathering at Samuel's Rest - after some of us managed to drag ourselves away from The Wheatsheaf. Saturday was a day tour by coach in and around Southampton, visiting local villages and a few pubs, and a ferry ride across the River Hamble to Warsash before heading back to base for a slap up meal and home made entertainment.
On Sunday we stopped off at Otter Nurseries, near Ottery St. Mary, Devon, to entertain the visitors, before the final journey home. A great evening at the Royal Western Yacht Club on Friday 25th February 2011. Good food, good company and great entertainment.

We took them all, together with Wreckers Morris, on a Rail Tour up the Tamar Valley on Saturday 19th September. Plymouth Morris Men formed part of the street entertainment during the build up to the Artemis Transat Race which started from Plymouth on Sunday 11th May. Afterwards they performed inside the National Marine Aquarium for the inauguration of the life-size Blue Whale paintings by Wyland. The group had their photo taken afterwards with the Artist and Dame Ellen MacArthur which was subsequently published on the Yachting Monthly web site. See more here. 8th August 2007 World Record! Plymouth Morris Men went the extra mile (or rather 3!) when they travelled out to Plymouth Breakwater this evening to dance and present a cheque for £300 to Care and Repair, a local Home Improvement Agency. Plymouth Morris Men are grateful to Dave Booker who provided the use of his dive boat for the team's use, Tincknell Fuels who donated the diesel and the Queen's Harbour Master, Plymouth, for granting permission to land on the Breakwater. Without the help of these people this unique event would not have been possible. The occasion also meant a new World Record for the number of Morris Men dancing on the Breakwater! |
