Plymouth Barbican is a part of the city that was relatively free of destruction
during World War 2. The district is
generally seen to correspond to the location and size of the medieval walled
town of Sutton. The development of New Street was approved in 1584 by Mayor John Sperkes.
The area has a number of real ale houses, so Ol’ could be Old or Øl!
